“Urban patterning” is a tribute to the “casual urbanism” of most Chinese-Asian cities that has seen exponential growth with a fast, cheap and self-determining way of building cities.

Our spatial matrix of stereoscopic moire captures the experience of roaming the city of casual urbanism: a sense of cacophony, exhilaration, familiarity and nausea envelopes. Fluorescent-lights, billboard mesh and rampant acrylic overlap in a 3-storied glass-floored space to create an experience of roaming without focusable depth and boundary. Traversing the space of Urban Pattering requires a constant zooming in and out of focus for basic navigation, like navigating the streets of Chinese-Asian cities: one needs to constantly check for above/ below ground obstructions while looking for that hidden alleyway.
