“PULL LIGHT” activated 13M high matrix of reflector dots
The cafe concept utilizes the 13m height of an odd-shaped, leftover space to create cafe experience of “spatial wonder” activated by user participation. The space is filled with a floating matrix of 2,500 traffic reflector discs of 12cm diameter. 10 custom aluminum lights with pull handles are dispersed at various heights. Pulling the handle raises the light source and maximizes the beam angle. The raised bulbs will then slowly fall back to a minimized beam angle at the base of their aluminum casings. The change in beam angles alters the intensity of the light and the areas that are lit. The cafe becomes a spatial experience that is ever-changing depending on the number of people in the space, and how they interact with each other and the pull lights. Getting coffee becomes a fun break with unpredictable outcomes.
