PENGHU HOUSE
C HOUSE
Warm wood wraps the interior of the apartment to soften the existing jagged glass front walls. In the double height living space, an asymmetrical spiral stairs constructed of glulam timber and steel is a main focus. The stairs are suspended by a curved wood hanger with embedded steel connectors, and supported at the widest curve by a 8x8cm “x” shape steel rod, a dynamic structural design element that hovers over views of river and skyline. Above the living and open kitchen area is a children’s play room shielded by a hand cranked screen with two faces, solid wood or perforated stainless steel, to vary light conditions.
