Hinged petals of recycled dichroic resin

Rainbow is a room partition made of eco resin repurposed from PET with a dichroic screen sandwiched between two 5mm resin layers. Each uniquely shaped panel is fabricated in the manufacturer’s USA plant then shipped to Taiwan for installation. Organic, free form floral shapes are hung from cables, and hinge or pivot over each other with custom fabricated stainless steel hardware.

The organic tiling maximizes the color nuances of the material; every subtle change in hinge angle is registered as an unpredictable yet dramatic color change to fully express and capture the properties of the diachronic resin. Depending on the time of day and the amount of indoor lighting, the screen changes from serene white and gold tones to bright orange, cyan, purple and pink.
