WAVE MATRIX
Shed of light wave / metal wave
Inspired by the curves and grills of automobiles, stainless steel strips of 20cm width are grommeted and threaded together to form the roof design of a garage shed. With an unpainted hairline finish, the wave matrix design creates the effect of shimmering patterns of light and shadows throughout the day, echoing the chrome elements and the sinuous lines of the owner’s serious car collection. Minimal, geometric and unitized, the wave matrix is fabricated and assembled in a factory and installed on site. The wave matrix is an experiment in utilizing industrial, lo-tech, inexpensive materials and methods with minimal site work to create unique and stunning effects.
The shed is supported by periphery columns clearing a 12.5m x 10m span space within for free form parking. Kept at a low height without obstructing the hacienda style main house built around the late 60s, the shed sits stealthily below the main grounds and overlooks an organic farming patch.
